If the sighting of a robin is supposed to be a sign of Spring.  What does it mean when there are a dozen red robins bopping along in your backyard?

It also means you're probably in for a buttload of Japanese beetles later this year. The birds are probably hanging out now to go after the grubs. A couple of years back Tam and I were digging up the front yard in the early spring and unearthing lots of grubs. The "first robin of spring" bravely hung around even with these humans clomping about because of the incredible pickings before her...

If they're red robins then you're looking at male cardinals!
Robins have only a "red" breast, and greyish-brown wings.

"When the Red, Red Robin Comes Bob, Bob, Bobbing Along" is a song title that I paraphrased.

We also have bright red cardinals, but they're smaller than the robins.

I'd say they're listening to a Bobby Day album... ("Rockin' Robin") :-)
