Borrowed from various friends' LJ posts.

Meme: I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me.  Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about.  Then post this in your own LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

My first two years I was part of the "Inquiry Program".  It exempted you from the standard core requirements for freshman and sophomores and allowed you to build your own course plan (with the help of an adviser).  The only requirement was that you take the four classes (one per semester) that provided an overview of science, social science, the humanities, and then a final class to pull them together.

I was considering being a computer major and took lots of computers classes.  I also took linguistics and psychology as electives.  When I decided that I didn't want to join the computer science major, I looked around for an alternative and decided to follow through with my electives.  So my major became Linguistics and Psychology (it was the only Linguistics major that didn't require a thesis).

When/how did you meet Ann, and how did you decide you wanted to marry her?

When/how did you meet Ann

We first met on-line when she joined "that mailing list" (a friend of hers in Maryland recommend that she join the list to meet people after she moved to Boston from San Diego).  Then we saw each other at various events.  But we didn't really interact until she brought a sick rat to a party.

and how did you decide you wanted to marry her?

After we had been seeing each other for a while, I saw a cute ceramic tableau of a mouse proposing to another mouse.  At the time I didn't plan on getting married, but I decided that it would be very appropriate if we did, so I bought it and then stashed it in the back of my closet.  Somewhere along the way she moved in with me.  A year or two later her mother died and her father's health was getting worse.  Late one night Ann mentioned that her father was worried that he might not live to see her get married.  I remembered the mice in the closet and hoped out of bed to retrieve them.  When I presented her with the mice, she started giggling.  Fortunately she took my offer seriously (it was April Fools' Day).

That's absurdly cute. (In more ways than one.)
