Last night, as I went out to the mailbox to get mail, a UPS truck stopped in front of my house.  The driver hopped out of the truck and handed me a package.  I just sort of stood there, as I was stunned by his attire.  He was wearing shorts! The temperature at the time was below freezing (I felt cold wearing a flannel shirt and jeans).  Doesn't the standard UPS uniform include the option of wearing long pants and a jacket?  At least he wasn't wearing a short sleeve shirt.

I don't know if the cab of his truck is heated, but the area where the packages are kept is not (judging by how cold the package was).

UPS must be doing a lot of deliveries.  I heard his truck stop at a house around the corner from mine, and then I heard him stop at a nearby house after he stopped at my house (the truck's brakes need to be adjusted).

We both know people who routinely wear shorts in the dead of winter, or for that matter walk around barefoot. For that matter, my legs don't get cold all that easly, and I'm far from the most cold-tolerant person I know.

He's probably just working up a good sweat hopping out of the truck and up people's walks bearing packages. Was he alone? I know that when they get close to x-mess UPS will often put two guys on a truck, one to drive and the other to deliver. Maybe they hadn't quite gotten to that point yet
