Books and Food on Newbury Street
Oct. 27th, 2002 09:29 pm On Thursday, Ann and I went to 50% off moving sale at Avenue Victor Hugo Books (I'm not sure when the sale ends, but they said they'll keep the store open until the end of the year). I spent an hour or so going through their SF section (they have eight book cases filled with paperback books and an equal number of bookcases filled with hardcover books). I managed to escape with buying only 30 books (I emptied out my backpack before I left home, so I'd have room to carry them home). Most of the books were by favorite authors, but at an average of $1.50 per book, I was willing to take a chance on a few books that I wasn't sure about.
We also went to a nice, little restaurant on Newbury St., called "Wisteria House". It's below street level at 264 Newbury St. They serve "Taiwanese, Chinese, & Japanese Cuisine". They also have a bunch of interesting looking bubble drinks (tapioca pearls). I got scallion pancakes and Yu Shang chicken. Ann ordered Swan La Chow Show and spinach with garlic. All of the dishes were good.
Wisteria House also has a take-out only restaurant in Stoneham at 418 Main St.
