Today is the 90th anniversary of the Great Molasses Flood in Boston.

A storage tank containing more than 2 million gallons of molasses ruptured, releasing an 8' to 15' high tidal wave of molasses that killed 21 people, knocked over buildings, destroyed cars, and bent a portion of the elevated railway.

It's rumored that on a warm day you can still smell the molasses.

(Today is also Martin Luther King Jr's birthday, and that also should be celebrated)
