Apple Notes - 2006

Here are the long awaited notes from Last Fall's Apple Tasting Party.
(we plan to have another apple tasting party this Fall)

Ann likes: Melrouge, Mutsu, Fortune, Baldwin

Anne likes: Honey Crisp, Ginger Gold

Laurie likes: Melrouge (slightly tart taste), honey crisp, fortune (very sweet), carousel, stay bright, mutsu

Texture is important

Jen likes skybrite, melrouge
Jen doesn't like gravenstein (too soft), Jonagold (ditto)

Macoun are strong (both sweet and tart/sharp) and very crunchy with skin that doesn't wanter into your teeth.

Karyn - Jonagold - not a good "eating" apple.

And a quote from the party, scribbled on the page:
"But first I want you to squeeze this frog."

I don't know who left this, but babel.altavista.com translates the text as: "informative, rather pleasant pages"

If this was an attempt at spam, I don't understand what they are trying to do, because there are no links.

I imagine it is a compliment.

Will you have Cox's Orange Pippin apples this year?

Maybe.

The Nashoba Valley Winery has a special corner of their orchards devoted to heirloom apples. We're trying to get permission to pick apples from there.

I know that the Gould Hill Orchard (http://www.gouldhill.com) has Cox's Orange Pippins and they should be ready any time now.
