Recently, I was at a state highway rest stop that sold pink flamingos (along with other stuff).

Where was I and why were they selling them?

Even though they're currently being made in Fitchburg, the original plastic pink flamingos were made in Leominster, which also advertises itself as the home of Johnny Appleseed, so visitor center also plays up that (there's a sculpture of a young Johnny Appleseed sharing apples in front of the building).

But looking at Google Maps just now, I think the visitor center is actually a 1/2 mile east of the Leominster town line.
